Library Breaks Ground in Pleasant Hill

September 27 was a chilly Tuesday morning and a day worth celebrating as Cass County Public Library broke ground on the new branch at 101 MO-7 Highway in Pleasant Hill. On the site, the former Goppert Bank building still stands and will be incorporated into the fresh new design by Clark & Enersen, a local Kansas City firm dedicated to providing an integrated approach to architecture, interior design, and landscaping. Royal Construction has been contracted to make the vision laid out by the library and Clark & Enersen a reality.

Library Director Dan Brower gave an inspiring speech recognizing not only the community members and local dignitaries that were present but also the impact of public libraries on individuals and the importance of growing our system in Cass County. The new Pleasant Hill branch also holds significance in that it will be the first property that the library owns outright. The new design will feature a community room, study rooms, a drive-through service window, a dedicated youth space, and outdoor seating. Below you can see the artist renderings of the proposed new space.
