Assistant Director, Head of Public Services (Full-Time Exempt) – Cass County Public Library Administrative Offices
Cass County Public Library is seeking a motivated and community-minded library professional to join its leadership team as Assistant Director and Head of Public Services. In collaboration with the administrative team, the Assistant Director oversees the management of public services, including circulation, reference, outreach, and genealogy. The Assistant Director works with the Library Director in strategic planning, budgeting, policy development, operational oversight, and evaluating library services.

Excellent oral and written communication and customer relations skills are essential to succeeding in this position. Must have the proven ability to work in a collaborative environment as a member the administrative team, and experience supervising public service staff. Should possess excellent organizational skills, report writing skills, and grant writing skills.

A Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program is required. Three to five years or more of progressive managerial and/or administrative library experience is required. Full job description can be found here.

Salary range: $66,000 – $72,000. Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. The library offers a generous benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision.

Teen Specialist (Full-Time) – Multiple Positions Available
Creative, energetic, and love working with teens? Join our team!

Cass County Public Library is seeking TWO full-time Teen Specialists to work in our large tier branches—Harrisonville and the Northern Resource Center in Belton. These enthusiastic individuals will work with teens in grades 6-12, applying their knowledge of teen interests to provide programming and spaces that are both appealing and relevant. Specific responsibilities include providing teen programming, building relationships with local community groups, and assisting with maintenance of the young adult branch collections. Friendliness, good judgement, and a sense of humor are essential.

A two-year or four-year degree from a recognized college in education or related field plus some library experience preferred. Will consider an equivalent combination of related training and experience. Starting pay $16.75/hr. Full job description can be found here. Youth Specialist (Part-Time) – Multiple Positions Available
Creative, energetic, and love working with youth? Join our team!

Cass County Public Library is seeking FOUR part-time Youth Specialists to work in our small tier branches—two 20 hour positions (Archie, Garden City) and two 24 hour positions (Drexel, Pleasant Hill). These positions require candidates who are enthusiastic about working with youth in a variety of ages and stages and their families. Specific responsibilities include providing storytimes for toddlers and preschoolers, programming for children and teens, building relationships with local community groups, and assisting with maintenance of youth collections. Friendliness, good judgement, and a sense of humor are essential.

A two-year or four-year degree from a recognized college in education or related field plus some library experience preferred. Library Assistant (Part-Time) – Northern Resource Center (located in Belton, MO serving the communities of Belton, Peculiar, and Raymore)
Part-time library assistant – 30 hours per week, including night(s) and Saturdays on rotation. $13.00/hr to start; $13.52/hr after 6 months with a favorable evaluation. Requirements include excellent customer service skills, computer literacy, self-starter who is ready to learn, and basic knowledge of libraries. Substitute Library Assistant (Part-Time) – Northern Resource Center (located in Belton, MO serving the communities of Belton, Peculiar, and Raymore)
Substitute library assistant. Hours vary based on needs of the branch. Some on-call availability at times. $12.30/hr. Requirements include excellent customer service skills, computer literacy, self-starter who is ready to learn, and basic knowledge of libraries. Job duties include checking items in and out for library patrons, shelving items, locating items for patrons, assisting visitors on computers and other devices, and answering general reference questions. Branch Manager I (Part-Time) – Genealogy Branch
Part-time branch manager – 30 hours per week. $19.14/hr. Seeking a highly motivated library professional with excellent communication skills. The person in this position must have supervisory and research skills in order to manage the Genealogy branch, located in the Harrisonville branch. Excellent customer relations skills are essential along with proven knowledge of materials in all formats on genealogical and local history research. Should possess excellent organizational skills, report writing skills, computer literacy skills, and attention to detail. Must have strong professional skills in community speaking and providing instruction on genealogy. Should be able to meet deadlines and follow CCPL policies and procedures. A two-year or four-year degree from a recognized college or university in a related field plus proven genealogical research experience, OR an equivalent combination of specific genealogy-related workshops and training or related education and experience required.
