Technical Services Library Assistant (Part-Time) — Administrative Offices
Technical Services Library Assistant – 20 hours per week. This position performs various duties as assigned in the operation of the library in the Technical Services Department. Work involves receiving and sending library materials borrowed through the Missouri Evergreen Consortium, processing materials in preparation for circulation, and receiving materials from library vendors and checking against invoices. The work requires that the employee have good knowledge, skill, and attention to detail in completing tasks. This position also understands, accepts, and actively promotes the vision, mission, and goals of Cass County Public Library. Staff members are expected to interact with patrons and fellow employees in a friendly, courteous, and respectful manner. Patron confidentiality is maintained at all times.
Requirements include library technical services experience, OR, an equivalent combination of specific library related workshops and training or related education and experience. $13.75/hour . Substitute Library Assistant (Part-Time) – Genealogy Branch
Substitute library assistant. Hours vary based on needs of the branch, including evenings and Saturdays. Some on-call availability at times. $13.75/hr. Requirements include excellent customer service skills, computer literacy, self-starter who is ready to learn, and basic knowledge of libraries and Genealogy. Job duties include assisting patrons with genealogical research and family history, shelving items, locating items for patrons, assisting visitors on computers and a microfilm reader, and answering general reference questions. Youth Services Coordinator (Full-Time) – Cass County Public Library Administration
Cass County Public Library is seeking an empathetic and patron-focused individual to fulfill the role of Youth Services Coordinator. The Youth Services Coordinator is responsible for the continuous development of services for children and teens (birth-age 18) and their caregivers. This position is in charge of purchasing for youth collections, provides indirect supervision to youth services staff, and plans system-wide programming and events. This position actively participates in the Library Management Team, assisting with long-range planning, problem solving, and policy development, and serves as a de-facto member of the Cass County Library Foundation Board. Positive working relationships with library staff and board, patrons, community groups, area businesses and other organizations are necessary. Full job description can be found here.
Requirements include a Master of Library Science degree from an ALA-accredited school. A minimum of 2-4 years of work-related experience that produces the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position, preferably within library or educational fields is also required.
Salary: $22.00/hr to $27.00/hr. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week). The position includes health insurance, vacation, sick, and holiday leave, and retirement through LAGERS. Applications may be emailed to peelp@casscolibrary.org.

Employment of Relatives

No person shall be employed at Cass County Public Library who is related, within the third degree, by blood or marriage to the Library Director, Assistant Director, Business Manager, or Human Resources employees. No person shall be employed for a position that is under the direct supervision of a relative.

An employee’s immediate family may not be hired if it would create a supervisor/subordinate relationship with a family member, have the potential for creating an adverse impact on work performance, or create either an actual conflict of interest or the appearance of a conflict of interest. Immediate family includes any individual related within the third degree, by blood or marriage.

In compliance with Missouri Law (182.050), no person who is related within the third degree by blood or by marriage to any trustee of the board shall be employed by Cass County Public Library. Library Trustees are not eligible for consideration as a prospective employee until one year beyond their date of last service.
