Library Reopens for In-Branch Visits
Cass County Public Library, which started curbside service on May 18th, is welcoming the general public back with in-branch visits beginning Monday, October 5th with limited hours. The Bookmobile will remain closed. All items need to be returned in outdoor bookdrops, and we are not accepting any donated items.
For library visitors, we have put guidelines and precautions, which meet or exceed health department guidelines into place for everyone’s safety.
- Masks covering nose and mouth are strongly encouraged.
- In-branch visits up to 60 minutes are welcome.
- Public computer sessions are limited to 60 minutes with no time extensions.
- Children’s play areas and activities are not available.
- Meeting spaces are not available for use.
- No in-person events will be held at any branches.
- Building occupancy is limited to 10% of regular capacity.
- Social distancing guidelines are marked throughout the building.
For patrons who prefer not to come into the branches, we will still offer curbside on Mondays and Thursdays from 2pm to 7pm.
Since initially closing on March 17th due to COVID-19, Cass County Public Library quickly responded to provide valuable library services to the community, including:
- Starting curbside service on May 18th, checking out 50,000 items in 10,000 pickups to date.
- A 15% increase in circulation, online access and digital library cards lending over 38,000 items for use at home and free with a library card.
- In the last 3 months, the library hosted 500 online programs, with 12,000 people viewing.
- Over 1200 children and adults enjoying summer reading activities, games, prizes, picking up almost 5000 ‘Grab and Go’ kits for home.
Thank you for your patience and support for the past few months. We are excited to be able to serve our patrons in-person again, and we will strive to keep our patrons and staff healthy and safe as we re-open. Thank you, also, for doing your part to keep everyone healthy!
