Cass County Public Library has a phased re-opening planned for all locations. Read more here.

When we started experiencing cases of COVID-19 in the US and our area, we knew that information and guidelines would change rapidly. Earlier today, Kansas City, MO Mayor Quinton Lucas announced that the Stay-at-Home Order in Kansas City will be extended through May 15th. In support of that order and following recommendations from the Cass County Health Department, all Cass County Public Library locations will remain closed until further notice. We want to re-open as safely as possible.

We miss our patrons. We miss serving you. We miss giving you access to the wonderful worlds within our walls. However, we want everyone to stay safe and healthy. Our communities are our priority, and while we may be essential to many of the people we serve, having our buildings open right now is not essential. We have discussed the possibility of alternative ways for patrons to get materials, but, at this time, it is not a consideration. We do not want to encourage people to go out in public to pick up materials. We have many resources that can be accessed from home. We added some of our more popular ones here.

We do not know when we will re-open, but we want to be prepared when we do. Don’t worry about Summer Reading! We are currently exploring ways to still offer the program across the county. We are also working on ways to offer even more services to our patrons during this unprecedented time. Though it’s not under the best circumstances, we are excited about continuing to serve you and find new ways for you to use your library. These are uncertain times, but you can be certain we are doing our best to keep you safe and healthy while (hopefully) satisfying your thirst for knowledge, education, and enrichment.

Library materials can be returned in outside bookdrops. All items will be quarantined for 5 days before being checked in.

If you receive a message about renewing your library card, you can renew via email: asklib@casscolibrary.org.

All pending holds will be frozen so you will keep your place in line when we re-open.

As always, our collection of digital books and audiobooks are available 24/7 at casscolibrary.org/ebooks and via your Overdrive and/or Libby app(s). We hope you’ll take advantage of these rich resources in the days ahead. From home, you can access:
