Garden City residents: meet your new librarian!

Hi! I’m Jana Riggs, the new manager at the Cass County Public Library in Garden City.

Garden City is my hometown. My husband and I both graduated from Sherwood, where our children currently attend school. We have a daughter who is in middle school and a son who will be there in a couple years. They keep us busy with music lessons, sports, Scouts and clubs.

I’ve worked a wide variety of jobs over the years and took the long way to a degree in English at the University of Central Missouri. I’m especially pleased to put it to use at the library.

We recently bought a “fixer-upper” in Creighton, lured by the promise of fruit and nut trees and a huge yard to romp around in. We love the Sherwood community, our roots are firmly planted here, and I look forward to serving our community at the library.
