Part-Time Library Assistant – Outreach
Hours: Hours can be up to 30 hours per week, including day, evening shifts, and some Saturdays. Hours will vary based on branch needs, ranging from 0 to 30 hours per week.
Pay: $15.00 per hour.
Do you enjoy helping others and making a difference in your community? Cass County Public Library is seeking a friendly and motivated individual to join our team as an Outreach Library Assistant. In this role, you’ll provide outstanding service to patrons, support library programs, and help create a welcoming environment for all.
This position will also involve occasional driving of the library’s Class A Bookmobile, so experience with or willingness to learn about operating larger vehicles is a plus. A CDL is NOT required. In addition, our outreach services include Lobby Stops and Library by Mail, giving you the opportunity to connect with patrons in a variety of settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent customer service and help patrons with a variety of needs.
- Assist with library technology and maintain computer literacy.
- Be a proactive self-starter, ready to learn and adapt to new challenges.
- Support library functions and programs with a basic understanding of library operations.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (college coursework preferred, with at least two years completed).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must have a valid drivers license

Schedule: Weekends (3 hours total per week). Exact timing is flexible (early morning or evening) when the building is closed to the public.

Pay: $13.75hour
About the Role
We’re seeking a reliable weekend custodian to keep our facility clean, safe, and welcoming. This is a great fit for someone who wants a short, steady weekly shift with flexible weekend timing.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize restrooms; restock supplies.
- Empty trash and recycling throughout the building.
- Sweep/mop hard floors; vacuum carpets and entry mats.
- Dust/wipe surfaces, fixtures, doors, and high-touch areas.
- Spot clean windows/doors and remove smudges/marks.
- Check meeting rooms and public areas; return furniture to standard layout.
- Secure the building upon completion (lights/doors) per checklist.
- Safely use and store cleaning chemicals and equipment; report supply needs and maintenance issues.
- Communicate with the branch manager about needs/concerns/changes
Minimum Qualifications
- Reliable, independent worker with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to follow checklists and safety procedures.
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs and perform repetitive motions (standing, bending, reaching) for up to 3 hours.
- At least 18 years of age; prior custodial experience preferred but not required.
- Dependable transportation and weekend availability.
- Willing to complete a background check.

Marketing and Design Specialist
Status: Full-time; Non-exempt
Location: Administrative Offices – Harrisonville, MO
Starting Pay: $18.00
Are you a creative storyteller who loves using design and digital media to connect people with their community? Cass County Public Library is seeking an innovative and detail-oriented Marketing and Design Specialist to help share the library’s story through engaging visuals, clear messaging, and consistent branding.
In this role, you’ll collaborate with staff across our seven branches to promote programs, services, and initiatives that inspire learning and connection. From designing eye-catching flyers and digital graphics to managing social media content and website updates, you’ll play a key role in shaping how the public experiences the library.
What You’ll Do
- Design and produce promotional materials such as flyers, posters, brochures, and digital signage.
- Manage social media content and scheduling, ensuring posts are engaging and on-brand.
- Create digital graphics, photos, and short videos to promote programs and services.
- Maintain and update website content and graphics for a clean, accessible, and consistent look.
- Collaborate with staff to meet systemwide marketing needs and support special initiatives.
- Assist with internal communications, reports, and grant materials as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Graphic Design, Communications, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- 2+ years of marketing, graphic design, or related experience preferred.
- Proficiency with design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong writing, editing, and visual communication skills.
- Excellent organization, creativity, and attention to detail.
- Photography or video editing experience a plus.
- Experience in a public library or nonprofit setting preferred.
