Trace Your Military Ancestors with Fold3!

Cass County Public Library has added access to Fold3 thanks to the passage of Proposition L. Fold3 is the perfect resource for researching your military ancestors. It can be used from any library computer or accessed remotely from the comfort of home!

Library patrons can now access and view any Fold3 records located in the relevant collections on Ancestry Library Edition, as well. Fold3 provides quick and easy access to over 500 million indexed and digitized military records, including service records, documents, photos, draft cards, and more for those who served. Patrons can view, print, and download these records to use in their family research.

Users can filter their searches or browse record collections by conflict, place, branch of the military, and publication type. Fold3 is home to U.S. military records from the Revolutionary War to the Vietnam War, as well as those from various international conflicts. You’ll also find a variety of select records from more recent conflicts in the Middle East, such as the Persian Gulf War and Afghanistan.

It’s important to keep in mind that, due to federal privacy law and the process of digitization, some military records will not be available in digital format in the database — and other records will not yet be publicly available at all.

If at home, you will need to enter your library card number for access.
