Peculiar Express Library at City Hall

Cass County Public Library, with the City of Peculiar and the Peculiar Chamber of Commerce, held a Ribbon Cutting event on Monday, April 1, 2024 for the new Peculiar Express Library location at City Hall. Now, in addition to the CCPL Book Drop, also located at  City Hall, and regular Bookmobile stops in Peculiar, residents can request, pick up, and browse various reading materials directly from the kiosk.

Robin Hudson, Cass County Public Library Director, and Doug Stark, Peculiar Mayor, pose in front of the Peculiar Express Library outside of City Hall.

The Peculiar Express Library provides accessible service to the residents of Peculiar as it is available 24/7. Not only can patrons request items for pick up at the kiosk and browse a collection of Best Sellers, Children’s Books, Audiobooks, and DVDs, but they can also connect to WiFi when dropping off and borrowing materials.

“The City of Peculiar has been a fantastic community partner for the library, as they have been instrumental in arranging places for regular bookmobile stops, housing a book drop for patrons to easily return materials, and providing secure storage for our bookmobile,” Robin Hudson, director of Cass County Public Library said. “When we contacted Mickey [Ary, City Administrator], he responded quickly with the idea of placing the kiosk at City Hall.”

Patron uses Peculiar Express Library for the first time after the Ribbon Cutting.

This is the second location that the Peculiar Express Library has been in since it officially opened in November 2023. However, thanks to a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) approved by the Cass County Public Library Board of Trustees and the City of Peculiar Board of Aldermen, the Express Library will remain at Peculiar City Hall for the next five years.

“We all agree this placement is going to be beneficial for the Peculiar community,” said Hudson.
