Searching the Catalog

Searching: Click on the Catalog link of the main menu of Cass County Public Library’s website at casscolibrary.org.

The main search area for the online catalog looks like this:

Search types: Click on the All Fields drop down menu to enter an author search, a title search, subject search, etc. The default or All Fields search is a general search that looks for any match to the words entered. For more about subject searching, click here.

Choose a library: The catalog automatically searches all branches of Cass County Public Library. If the item is not in Cass County Public Library, try expanding your search by using the first drop down menu.

  • Selecting Everything will return items, both digital and physical, that match your search term(s).
  • Selecting Library Search will return physical items that match your search term(s).
  • Selecting Digital Catalog will return only digital items, like eBooks and eAudiobooks, that match your search term(s).
  • You can search individual CCPL branches, or you can search other libraries in the Kansas City Library Consortium.

Example search: Here is an example of a title search in Cass County Public Libraries for The Great Gatsby:

You can find out where to find the book by clicking on the book cover or title. You can also place a hold on the item by clicking Place Hold. To learn more about placing holds, click here.)

Clicking on the book cover or title will provide you with the call number and location of the item. This book is located at F FIT in the branches listed. F stands for fiction; FIT are the first three letters of the author’s last name.
