Searching: Click on the Catalog link of the main menu of Cass County Public Library’s website at casscolibrary.org.
The main search area for the online catalog looks like this:
Search types: Click on the Type drop down menu to enter an author search, a title search, subject search, etc. The default search is a Title search that looks in an item’s title for any match to the words entered. For more about subject searching, click here.
Item formats: Evergreen allows you to search for items based on their format. Formats include books, DVDs, music, braille, large print books, and playaways. There are many more listed in the Format drop down menu.
Choose a library: The catalog automatically searches all branches of Cass County Public Library. If the item is not in Cass County Public Library, try expanding your search by using the last drop down menu.
- Selecting Missouri Evergreen will return items, both digital and physical, from all Missouri Evergreen libraries, that match your search term(s).
- You can also search individual CCPL branches, or you can search other libraries in the Missouri Evergreen. Search those libraries specifically by selecting the library or branch from the menu.
Example search results: We have performed a title search for The Great Gatsby. As the results show below, the library owns several copies of The Great Gatsby in multiple formats. You can see which branches have copies of the items and if the item(s) are available directly on the search results screen. You can place a hold on the item by clicking Place Hold. To learn more about placing holds, click here.
Clicking on the book cover or title will provide you with even more information, like what other formats we have, how many holds are currently on the item, call numbers, and even when the item is due back, if it’s checked out. This movie is located in the Adult DVDs section under DVD GRE or DVD GRE 2013 at the branches listed. GRE are the first three letters of the movie’s title. If we were looking for the book, the call number would be F FIT. F stands for fiction; FIT are the first three letters of the book’s author, Fitzgerald. You can always return to your original search results by clicking on the Search Results link above the item.
