Fortune Cookies and Caldecott Medals at the CCPL Foundation Annual Author Event

The Cass County Public Library Foundation will be hosting Pete Cowdin, aka, A. Bitterman, children’s author and owner of the Reading Reptile Bookstore, at their annual author event next Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at the Northern Resource Center in Belton beginning at 6:30 p.m. Mr. Cowdin is the author of the picture book, Fortune Cookies, featuring illustrations by Caldecott Medalist, Chris Raschka.
Also appearing with Mr. Cowdin will be April Roy, a librarian at the Kansas City Public Library and a judge for the Caldecott Medal given each year to the best illustrated children’s book. Ms. Roy, a graduate of Archie High School, will talk about how the Cass County Public Library shaped her career in libraries. She will also discuss her experiences with the Caldecott Medal committee.
The Foundation will also be hosting their annual basket auction. Gift baskets themed on reading will be available for raffle.
The Northern Resource Center is located on 58 Highway (on the west side of 71 Highway) in the Cedar Tree Shopping Center.
