Drexel residents! Meet your new librarian

Connie Allen (right) and Deb Bova at Connie’s retirement party at the Drexel library. Deb Bova became the Drexel Branch Manager in January following Connie Allen’s retirement.

Greetings from the southwest corner of Cass County. My name is Deb Bova and I’m the new manager at the Cass County Public Library in Drexel. My family includes a husband and four grown or almost grown sons. We live “in the country” on fifteen acres and raise, with varying levels of success, dogs, cats, goats and chickens. I enjoy my garden (at least before the July heat sets in!), quilting and reading. I homeschooled all my boys and must say when it came time for the last one to graduate it was a tossup as to who was more excited. I grew up in Kansas City and have my parents and my sister’s family in the area and it’s nice to have extended family about. I graduated from KU (sorry all you MU fans! Go Jayhawks!) and married my sweetheart the same year. We’ve always lived around Kansas City except for one year when we spent what seemed like an eternity in Detroit. We moved to the wonderful town of Drexel fifteen years ago and have loved every minute. I have worked at the Drexel branch for three years and am excited about the chance to get even more involved in the library and my community.

Congratulations, Deb! What a wonderful choice for a new Branch Manager! I know you’ll be such an asset in this position to the library, its’ patrons, and the Drexel community. You were always such a great resource for myself and other families in so many capacities – like a walking reference librarian!

    Now how much we’ll miss Connie – that’s a whole different story…

    Best wishes!

Deb Bova will be a great librarian for Drexel! She co-led our Homeschool group for years with such imagination and professionalism – always having an answer for every question. We love her family, too. One son is our church’s Youth Pastor! I may have to switch back to the Drexel Library now instead of Harrisonville (although they have great people, too!)
