Rock Out at the Library this Summer!

It’s time once again for the Summer Reading Program at Cass County Public Library!

The fun starts on June 4th, but patrons can sign up starting on May 21st. Join us for musically-inspired events, made possible only by the contributions of area community partners and businesses, at each branch during this year’s program, Libraries Rock! Patrons can register online and download their reading logs straight from our website this year. Everyone has until July 28th to complete the summer reading program.

Children & Teens

Just like past years, children and teens read (or listen to) books to earn a free new book of their choice, along with other prizes at each branch. Prizes can be picked up starting Monday, June 18th.

  • Pre-Readers, those not yet reading on their own, will earn their book once they have 25 books read to them or have 8 hours of being read to.
  • Readers, up to 5th Grade, will earn their book by reading 10 books or completing 8 hours of reading.
  • Teens will earn their book by reading 5 books or completing 8 hours of reading.

Sign up and download your reading log here. Don’t forget to stop in your local branch to receive your registration packet!

Adults

This year, adults can get in on the fun, too. Adult patrons can participate in the Adult Summer Reading Remix, a challenge-based program that encourages patrons to expand their reading and explore library resources. Challenges include reading, using library resources, and attending events.

When an adult has completed any 3 challenges (reading or otherwise), they earn their first entry into a branch prize drawing. They earn another entry for each additional challenge they complete by July 28th. For those who complete every challenge on the log (and return the log to their branch), they will receive 2 extra entries, giving them a total of 15 entries into the drawing. Bring the challenge log back to your branch so that you can receive your entries!

A couple of the challenges may be tricky for some patrons, so our librarians have created a couple of lists to help everyone out. Need a book that takes place in Tennessee or Ohio? Are you having trouble finding a book that features a musician as a character? We’d love to see everyone take part in the Adult Summer Reading Remix; after all, you can’t let the kids have all the fun!
