Chase Away the Winter Blues Adult Winter Reading Program

Does the cold, wintry weather get you down? Check your local branch program listings below for details about how to participate in our winter reading program.

Archie Branch

Read 2 books/magazines of your choice and earn a special participation gift. For every 2 books/magazines you read, you will be entered into a drawing for a special gift basket. Reading logs may be picked up beginning Saturday, December 27. To celebrate the end of our reading program, we will have entertainment and refreshments. Thursday, February 5, 5:00pm.

Drexel Branch

Stop by the library to sign up for adult winter reading. Record your books and after you have read five, turn in your log to receive a prize. Monday, January 5 through March 30.

Garden City Branch

Sign up to participate in our reading program for adults. Meeting you reading goals for a chance to win prizes and receive an invitation to the ending party. Monday, January 5 – February 23. Ending party: Monday, February 23, 6:00pm.

Harrisonville Branch

Come to the Harrisonville Library and register to participate. Choose your reading goal ( a minimum of one item). Everyone who successfully completes the program will be entered in the prize drawing and will be invited to the closing party on February 28. January 12- February 28. Everyone who successfully completes the Adult Winter Reading program will be invited to attend the Ending Event. Saturday, February 28, 2:00pm.

Northern Resource Center

Winter Reading Big Book Challenge: This year’s Big Book is Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell. Weighing in at 1024 pages, we will break this down into three manageable parts of only 341 pages per month. That’s only 79.3 pages per week 11.3 pages per day. You CAN do this! Pick up your copy at the circulation desk. Meet to discuss the book on two dates: Monday, January 12, 6:30pm; Monday, February 9, 6:30pm.

Pleasant Hill

Read 2 books/magazines of your choice and earn a special participation gift. For every 2 books/magazines you read, you will be entered into a drawing for a gift basket. Pick up your reading log at the Pleasant Hill Branch beginning. December 29th. January 1—January 31th.
