Cass County Reads winner is a Drexel resident

Drexel resident, Sharon Koenecke, participated in the Cass County Reads program and won a Kindle Fire.

Drexel resident, Sharon Koenecke, was the winner of the Cass County Public Library Community Read.

The Cass County Reads program provides the opportunity to read and discuss the same book as others in the community. This year’s selection was The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce. Book lovers across the county read the book and then participated in a group discussion at their local library or online.

Participants were then entered into a drawing for a Kindle Fire. Koenecke’s name was drawn out of 55 entrants.

When asked what she thought of the book she said she didn’t really like it; but the reason she belongs to a book club is to get out of the usual types of books she reads. “I don’t always like the selections but sometimes I do and then it’s a book I wouldn’t have normally read.”

Congratulations Sharon! And we admire your willingness to try different kinds of books.
